This is Bicolor

Yet another shoe post.  I spent an hour this morning looking at sales from my favorite stores, and I came across these amazing sneakers by Feit.

They're made of vegetable tan leather and are completely handmade.  They seem so comfortable and remind me of those chunky white Adidas sneaks that everyone used to wear in high school (for me, it was way back in the early 2000's).

I love both color combos, and since they're handmade, they're in limited production, so you'll totally be wearing something unique.

This is the Angle!

Hi guys,

I'm so sorry that I've been awol for so many months.  I guess it's been hard for me to get into fashion as of late.  I've been more consumer with writing right now.  I'm trying to complete a YA fantasy novel that will make girls hearts go ba-bump ba-bump.

If you wanna read my blogposts about writing, definitely check out mauramilan.wordpress.com.  I kinda feel like I'll be posting generally about fashion in there too and also about my extreme nerd obsessions.

But right now, I wanna gush about these Helmut Lang boots.

Not sure if you can tell, but the heel comes to the end at a really cute point.  Even though, I haven't been wearing too many high-heel type boots (mostly wearing flat boots now), I'm a sucker for strange heels.  I also love how the top of the heel isn't completely flush with the leather.  It's so blocky and cool.

Oh, Helmut Lang...you got me again!!

This is Maharishi X Berlinois

Another jacket post!  I know, I know.  But I just love this.  Just found out about this Maharishi x Berlinois collaboration.  And saw this jacket and just about died.  The fur collar looks so plush and warm, and the muted camouflage detailing, I'm drooling.  The back is super badass too.

Bitches be crying.

This is layered

t

I'm slightly obsessed with Carin Wester's Tuva sweater.  I've been so into oversized knits lately and have been scouring the webs for designer and vintage ones.  I've bought so many Coogi (you know...those Bill Cosby sweaters) this year that I can't count.

The Carin Wester one seems like a cosy piece, and I love how it's layered to look like a long sleeve underneath a Tee.  I used to dress like that in high school, and here I am again, wanting to make the same choices as my 16 year old self.  Life's funny that way.

The white is amazing, but I'm glad you can also find it in black (my safety color ^_^ )

This is the girl on fire.

I'm a huge fan of Trish Summerville.  Loved her Dragon Tattoo work so much that I even bought a leather jacket from her collaboration with H&M.  But now she's got a new collab, and it's through
Net-A-Porter.  Check it out here.

Since, I like more basic styles, I really love the tank top above.  The cut is simple, and the design in the back is classy and cool.  And plus, that bag.  Seriously amazing.  Maybe because it reminds me of my favorite Alexander Wang bag.  I love bags with tons of compartments and several different ways to wear them.  Bag or rucksack...take your pick.

The cowl vest, though, is by Maria Dora, and when I saw it onscreen, I instantly became obsessed with it.  I did some research, and she'll be selling two versions of it soon.  Love this item, especially styled over a slimfitting leather jacket.

This is Y-3

Just got these Y-3 loafers in the mail, and I love them.  Something about that white sole that gives these loafers a little more street edge.

You can find them here

This is plaid.

Yeah, Yeah.  I know it's been a while.  I think it's because I haven't been so excited by fashion these past few months.  But here we are again. It's my favorite season and my favorite clothing finds are out: Jackets!  Coats!

I saw this coat and thought nothing of it at first.  I was more into Phillip Lim's shearling biker jacket, but I think it was because of that amazing navy collar.  Then I realize I have way too many tight coats, and lately, I've been feeling like wearing something large and cozy and somewhat dress down.  Basically, not black.

So here I went, looking at this coat again, and I started to fall in love with it.  It's huge looking, like you can fit a sweater or a leather jacket underneath.  And the detachable shearling collar is a plus.  It would look good on any of my other jackets.

Could be perfect for me this season, especially on those casual days.

This is seriously. amazing.

From Barbara Bui's resort collection.  I want that bomber jacket more than anything.  Seriously, I wear black all the time, and this is the first time I've wanted something white in a very, very long time.  And I don't even mind the flashes of color.

I love birds.  Therefore, I love this jacket...this whole outfit!

This is the Piedmont

Everytime I look for new shoes, I always think, are these the shoes that I want to get dirty?  And there have been a couple of those shoes, where I decide would be perfectly ok with getting some mud on them, but then,  a rainy day comes, I'm filled with dreadful thoughts of soiling that particular pair.

But not with these rain boots above.  They're so cool looking, and with the rubber sold and the rubber body, I won't scared at all to jump into a puddle of dirty water or go tromping through a muddy forest.

Plus the little splashes of colorblocking is darling.  Sold.  Get on my feet now! ^_^

These are some of my favorite looks.

1-3 Alexander Wang
4 - Helmut Lang
5 - Yohji Yamamoto

*all pics from Style.com

These are some of my favorite looks that I have seen so far.  Overall, it seems like everyone is into louder prints, which is probably why I'm choosing looks that that don't have prints at all.  But from the above, I love that these outfits have so much texture and the ability to layer in amazing ways.

I'm so captivated by those Alexander Wang pumps in pic 3.  The peek of skin is so sexy, and I'm hoping that they're comfortable..but they probably won't be :D

I'd have to say out of all of these, my favorite look is the Yohji look (#5).  It's such a great street look that can look proper and also very casual.  I'm down with this look from head to toe.

What have you guys been eyeing at this fashion week?

This is Demobaza.

I've been looking around for some good shearling jackets right now, and I came across this jacket.  It's from Demobaza.  The silhouette immediately struck me because of the volume in the body, but then slimness in the arms.  The asymmetrical button closure is great as well.  While this isn't real shearling (it's eco shearling),  the design is still really interesting and edgy.  It seems like it would be a unique buy, plus the price isn't so bad at all.

I started looking at all of the other pieces in the Demobaza collection, and oh wow, they're really futuristic cool.  It seems like something I would want to wear if the world was ending, and I had to survive and still look cool at the same time.

Check out more of their stuff here: Demobaza store

This is Tod's.

I don't know why, but I like these!  I'm so in love with chelsea boots; I have 2 Alexander Wang Anouck boots, and I'm always scouring for another unique twist on the chelsea.  These Tod's platform chelseas are pretty cute.  They give you height while also keeping the sleek silhouette of the chelsea.

What do you guys think?  I want one, just don't know where to get one.  They're all sold out on MyTheresa here.

This is Theysken's!

Hey ghouls!

Thank God this shopping weekend is coming to a close.  Did you guys score any bargain deals that make you squeal?

I have to say I was about to buy a Rick Owens jacket off of outnet since it was marked down so much, but then I found out that this Theysken Theory leather jacket finally went on sale.  I jumped on it, and bought it.  I know, I know....I'm buying too many jackets.  But this is something that's been on my list for a couple months.  Rick Owens, you will have to wait.

What do you think?  I've been looking for an oversized leather jacket, and I tried this on at Theory; I fell in love instantly.  I boxy shape is pretty masculine, but I WAS looking for oversized afterall.    The leather is so soft and thick.  I can't wait to get this jacket in the mail.  ^_^

This is Your Mom Lies!

This is the Taiwanese Label, Your Mom Lies.  I found it off of StyleBubble, and I have to say I'm a fan.  Although I do feel a little conflicted, since I a lot of my wardrobe is on the darker/blacker side.  And all of these shirts are so bright and pop!

But the thing I like the most is its sense of humour, which I think reflects my age.   All of this stuff throws back to 90's tech culture, when Photoshop didn't even exist and every website was on terrible Angelfire sites.  The aesthetic reminds me of that, and I love it.  It makes me laugh, and it makes me stand by my childhood.  So, I may have to buy one of these shirts even though they're bright as FUCK!

Find their stuff here!

This is the square collar.

Just bought this square collar jacket from Oak.  I've been going jacket/coat crazy this season.  In LA, it's still boiling hot, but somehow I keep on buying coats and coats.  I know I don't need this, but I love OAK coats so much, and this one is a classic when it comes to OAK.

How's everyone's fall?

But it here. Oak.

This is stingray.

As you all know, I love LD Tuttle boots.  So for a couple months now, I've been obsessing over the Helmut Lang X LD Tuttle boots, especially the black version with the stingray leather in the back.  How unique!  It really just makes me wanna throw down 700$ and buy them, but then I look at my bank account and say "not quite yet."

I guess I have been going wedge crazy lately.  I have a pair of Rick Owens that I wear so often since they're so comfortable, and just got a pair of Ann Demeulemeester suede wedges.  I wonder if I can include another wedge in my collection.  But the silhouette is so unique and striking that I'm sure I can make some room.

You can buy them here.

This is Kimberly Ovitz

Once again, I'm stunned by Kimberly Ovitz's collection.  The clothes were beautiful and flowy, and the styling was inspiring.  I feel like I'm transported to the world of National Geographic...in a good way!  Love that they chose to have everyone barefoot, walking through red clay and mud.  I really wanna do that right now, and then quickly wash my feet.  hahah.

This is the jacket

This jacket is fabulous.  It's from Alexander Wang's 2013 spring collection.  There's something awesome about oversized bomber jackets right now.  I love the sheen to the fabric and the chunky cut to the hood is genius.  I'm down with this whole outfit, Alexander Wang.

What does everyone think about the new line?

Monday, August 27, 2012

Oh my gosh.  It's been so long, right?  I'm so sorry I've been away; I guess I've just been feeling a little uninspired lately.  But I just wanted to drop in and say hullo.

I went to Italy recently, and it was ridiculously hot.  Seriously, I would get back to the hotel and just lie there and rub my feet.  So much walking, and none of my shoes are comfortable enough to handle that much travel.  Even so, there were so many sights!  Such a historic country to visit.

The first picture was from Venice, and the second was from a piazza in Rome!  More pics to come; I promise.

I hope everyone is well!

This is vest season.

Summer is coming so incredibly soon.  It's time to take off those jackets and put on those vests.  I bought this Rick Owens vest for that reason.  I was so excited that I had to take some pics right after taking it out of the box, still with tags and everything HAHAH!

I love this vest.  It has this great diagonal button closure that wraps around me like a snake.  So I can wear it like a cloak or wear it like a boa constrictor.  I can put it over any regular t shirt or dress that I have, and it all looks fantastique!

Vest: Rick Owens
Tshirt: Alexander Wang
Jeans: Helmut Lang
Boots: Finsk
