This is animal.

Recently, I've been so addicted to etsy.  I found a great shop that sells some really amazing animal inspired jewelry.  My new favorite addition to their store is that cute little hippo ring at the very top.  It's so fantastic.  And what do you think of the fox and barn owl pieces?  Want it!!

If you look through Moon Raven Designs store, you'll see a collection of very raw pieces that inspire your animal nature and your primitive side.  They even have vertebrae necklaces and hummingbird skull pendants.  Very beautiful in a raw way.  Fashionable goth for sure.

This is for new years.

New Years Eve is coming up so quickly, and I'm trying to think of a nice, elegant dress to wear.  Last year, I was all into short skirts and dresses, but this year, I'm really very comfortable wearing longer and more flowy skirts.  These are some great options for New Year's Eve parties I think.

I like the dye effect of the first dress.  Alas, I've been at all the Zara stores in my location and I haven't been able to find it.  You're very lucky to have such a beautiful dress if you have it.

I know it's a short dress, but somehow I really like the print of the third dress (wild horses running in greytone...I love it, so unique.  It reminds me of that Portishead song!!)

What are you guys going to wear for New Years Eve?

This is neon. [project inspiration]

Isn't this photo superb!  I'm in such a scarf wearing mood that when I saw this picture of a neon yellow snood, it totally caught my eye.  I've been also searching for some neon yellow yarn.  I'm think I might just knit myself a neon scarf.  Even though it's such a lovely snood above, I feel like I should busy myself with a project this holiday season.

This is my santa claus.

Merry Christmas everyone.  This is a picture of my little dog, Wolfy in Christmas attire.  She's so gangster.

Hope you all have a safe and merry holiday.  Relax and drink some hot cocoa, ok!!
Delicious tip:  Sprinkle a little sea salt on the whipped cream that sits on top of your cocoa for a salty chocolate flavor.  (not too much salt tho!!)

Merry Christmas!

It's almost Christmas, and it's getting quite cold outside (even in Los Angeles).  So, I thought that I would post a little Christmas wishlist of functional and cute items that can be worn together in numerous different outfits combinations.

Yes, there's a lot of blacks and grays, but I've included little pops of color to undrab any outfit.  This winter,  I find myself wearing so much black and neutral colors, but have been wearing really bold colored scarves or undershirts (layering!!) to add a little zest of color to my outfits.  Neon yellow is very fun.  Red is classic.  And my new favorite is mint.  Wearing a mint scarf would be like wearing a fun christmas candy kingdom on your neck without getting too bogged down in more traditional christmas red and green.

It's time to layer!  It's time to put as many clothes on yourself without looking like a blocky marshmallow.  All of this just to stay warm.  Do it.  EEeeeeee!!!

                                                                      peace and joy!

This is Selina Kyle.

Yes, I know...I'm such a nerd.  But the truth is, since I saw Batman Returns in 2nd grade, I've always thought Selina Kyle was the coolest chick in the world.  She's nerdy chic during the day, with amazing permy hair (that definitely won't work for me, but look awesome on her)  and then at night, she's this tough woman who knows how to wear leather.  So much style!

Anyway, the real point of this post is:  I hate wearing contacts, and I've had my frames since high school, so I need a change.  And I want huge frames...frames that cover a lot of my face, so I don't have to tilt my head up to read.  So lately, I've been going crazy trying to find glasses that replicate Selina Kyle's frames.  I think I found a close match.  It's from Bon Look!  I want them so bad, and I know they'll be so comfy to wear.

This is cheapo.

I'm such a huge fan of watches.  I'm always on the lookout for a new statement watch.  I'm usually a huge fan of watches that reinvent the way of telling time, but these cute analog watches from cheapo are so cute and so colorful that I'm in love.  I love the thin wrist band and they're so shiny.  I'm a big fan of that first one.  The color style suits me better and isn't too bold.

They also have speaker watches (watches that TELL you the time with the push of a button) and some really cute and minimalist digital watches.  The one below is by far my favorite of all of them

This is Koreatown

Friends!  I wanted to premiere to you a project I directed for the Guadelajara International Book Fair about two years ago.  The film is intended to introduce people the sites and stories of Los Angeles, so I decided to make a very romantic and fluid film about people who are trying to reinvent themselves in the city.  Koreatown is a part of Los Angeles that I love the most.  There is so much energy, great food, fun late night karaoke, rooftop golfing, and amazing people.  Even though it's in Los Angeles, it's like you're transported to a totally different world.  I hope you enjoy!!

*** Although this isn't exactly fashion related, you'll see some fun aesthetic references to some favorite Hollywood Icons.  The star of the film is my good friend Jessika Van.  She's so adorable in it.

This is street stomping.

Street Stompers

Alexander Wang wedge ankle booties
$417 - lagarconne.com

When you walk around the city, you need a perfect pair of boots.   Yes, these boots are from seasons past, but they're such street treasures.  Alexander Wang's twist on the beatle boot is so modern and classy, and the little metal edge on the heel is to die for.  Alexander McQueen's skeleton bootie is also  a cute little thing.  It's a black metal pixie boot brought to life!  I imagine it would be amazing paired with some slim and slick black leggings and a slouchy top.

If you have even one of these, you are one lucky ducky.  Stomp the pavement with them, but not too hard... make them last forever!!

This is helmut.

Helmut Lang's black and white and monochromatic selections from the Pre-Fall 2012 selection!!  My mind is blown by how ridiculously amazing and edgy they are.  The cutout top looks so masculine yet so delicate, and I love the white black acid wash jeans.

I'm pleasantly pleased, and I can go to sleep now and dream black and white dreams.

What do you think of the new pieces??

This is the girl.

H&M Dragon Tattoo: The Collection from Barracuda Film & TV on Vimeo.

Oh my god!  Have you seen this?  H&M is putting out a Girl With the Dragon Tattoo inspired collection.  I've been in love with this kind of style for so long, and I'm so happy I'll be able to pick up something from H&M that I'll actually like.  My favorite is the black leather jacket above; I just really love the padded motocross shoulders.  It's a definite must have for me.

This all goes on sale on DEC 14, so you'll know where I'll be.

This is martyred.

Charlotte Martyr is a jewelry maker I've been eyeing for soooo long.  I love every single piece in all of her collections.  The chunky rock rings are such a good mix of hardness and soft femininity.  That ring in the middle, yeah that's the one I'm going to get!  Can't wait!  Eeeeee.

What do you think?  Don't you love them?
